Maniratnam’s Ravana/Ashokavanam is in news either for the troubles its getting into or the huge cast it has. As we know that this is a story of modern Ramayana in which Abhisheik and Aishwarya Rai are playing the roles of Rama and Sita and Vikram plays the title role Ravana. The roles of Vikram are swaped in Tamil / Telugu. Vikram plays Rama. Priyamani was selected for the role of Surpanaka in both versions. Now Reema Sen is being considered for the role of Madodhari (Ravana’s wife).
Maniratnam made Dhalapathi which is based on the story of Karna. Where Rajinikanth played the role of Karna and Mamooti played the role of Dhuryodhana. So Ravana is going to be in the similar lines.
